Dimethylbis(cyclopentadienyl)silyl]zirconium dichloride (abbreviated as Cp2ZrCl2) is an organometallic compound with the chemical formula (ZrCl2Cp2). It is a solid with a white to yellow color.
The main use of this compound is as a catalyst in organic synthesis, showing high activity and selectivity in homogeneous catalytic reactions. It can be used to synthesize a variety of organic compounds, including polymers, olefin polymerization, carbene compounds and cyclopentadienyl metal compounds. A common method of preparing Cp2ZrCl2 is obtained by reacting cyclopentadienyl lithium with dimethylsilylzirconium chloride.
